Karen E. Sharma
Vice President, Director of Communications

Karen Sharma brings fourteen years of strategic communications and public affairs experience to her role at Newgrange Consulting Group. She has provided public relations and government relations counsel and generated high-impact media coverage for a diverse group of corporations, elected officials and political candidates across the country. 

Ms. Sharma has advised politicians at all levels of public office and has counseled companies engaged in healthcare IT, financial services, online media, consumer technology and intellectual property law. Recently, she directed the execution of the public communications around the United States Supreme Court patent case, Bilski v. Kappos.

She has executed PR and public affairs campaigns to support corporate communications, mature brand revitalization, international tradeshows, financial communications, alliance building, issue awareness and product launches. She develops and implements strategy, crafts influential messaging, manages teams and articulates clients’ stories to a variety of audiences. She has won various Publicity Club Bell Ringer Awards.

Ms. Sharma is the former director of communications and deputy treasurer for the Massachusetts State Treasury. In this role, she was a senior political advisor to the Treasurer and was responsible for all media and public relations for the Treasury, Lottery, Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission and state pension fund.

Prior to serving in state government, Ms. Sharma managed a political and corporate communications firm based in Boston. Her firm specialized in developing and implementing strategic campaigns for both New England area corporations and political candidates running for all levels of public office across the country.
