Matthew J. O’Neil, Jr.
Chief Operating Officer

Mr. O’Neil serves as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Strategist for the firm. With his roots going back to the days of Mayor White’s “Little City Halls” in Boston in the 1970’s, Matt brings decades of experience and knowledge to the management of the firm and to the advice provided to clients.

Among his employment credits, Matt served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy (8th CD, MA) providing both strategic political and policy advice while spending time in both the Boston office and working on Capital Hill in Washington, D.C.

In addition, Matt also served as Chief of Staff and Director of Economic Development for the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA), Boston’s economic development and strategic land planning agency with a staff of 250 and a $25 million dollar budget. During Matt’s tenure the City of Boston experienced the single largest development surge in its history, more than $4 billion.

Most recently, Matt was a minority partner and served in the capacity of Director of Permitting and Development for KSS Realty Partners. This start-up investment, land planning, land permitting strategy, and land development firm had a focus on multi-family residential acquisition, permitting, and development particularly with projects with many hurdles (i.e. environmental, zoning, etc.). Matt was instrumental in creating the strategy through which the company was able to rezone an urban industrial parcel to an overlay district allowing as many as 235 residential units as a matter of right.

Matt received his B.A. from Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts, and his M.B.A. from Suffolk University in Boston.
